Children’s Building Driveway Closure

The Children’s Building driveway on University Avenue will close on Monday, August 22.

As construction continues to progress for the exciting Children’s Emergency Care Expansion, this means that there are a few changes to expect beginning Monday, August 22, 2022:

• The driveway will remain closed for the duration of the project which means it will be closed for a number of years.
• The entrance to the Children’s Building will remain open and door screening will remain in place at this entrance.
• A covered pedway will be installed to allow access to the entrance from the Goldbloom Pavilion and from the stairwell of the parking garage. The pedway will accommodate two-way traffic flow and physical distancing. It will include windows for natural light and lighting after dark.
• Staff, patients and families should use caution when traveling in this area as the road will be narrower.

Five designated parking spaces will be installed on level 2 of the parking garage to facilitate patient pick-up and drop-off for those who normally use the Children’s Building driveway. There will be no fee for use of the IWK parking garage if less than 20 minutes.
