RESEARCH ELECTRONIC DATA CAPTURE

REDCap is a secure, web-based application designed to support data capture for research studies, providing:

  • an intuitive interface for validated data entry;
  • audit trails for tracking data manipulation and export procedures;
  • automated export procedures for seamless data downloads to common statistical packages; and
  • procedures for importing data from external sources.

REDCap Request

Request a new REDCap instance, add a new user to an existing REDCap project, or request a new REDCap user account.

 

1. Complete a Project Initiation Form

  • The form requires the Investigator’s signature.
  • This form must be uploaded and attached to the IT Self-Serve ticket.

*If access is required while REB approval is pending, a REDCap REB Form must be uploaded with the Project Initiation Form and attached to the IT Self-Service ticket.

2. Complete an IWK IT Self-Serve ticket

  • Pulse >> IT Self-Serve
  • Under Request Product or Service/Applications and Software/Software. Choose “Request new Software”.
  • In the “Request New Software” comment box, add REDCap along with the title of the REDCap Project you want to create or gain access to. The title is chosen by you.
  • Select Yasmin Ali for the Approver.
  • Attach the Project Initiation form to the ticket request

What Happens Next?

  • IT will create the user account for REDCap.
  • IT will create the project (if it does not already exit) and give you access. If it does exist, you will be given access.
  • You will receive an email so you may log on to the REDCap site. In your “My Projects” folder you will see the projects that you have access to.

This Process is followed for setting up new projects, adding users to an existing projects, deleting users from existing projects or moving the project from Production to Live status.

After RSO approval has been provided for a REDCap ticket via assystNet, your request is placed in queue with IT. For questions related to the status of your ticket, please call the IT Self-Service Help line at 470-6700.
