A Typical Day
Sometimes when things aren’t going right, you need treatment more than once a week. Family, friends or outpatient services are sometime not enough. At Adolescent Day Treatment (ADT) - we can help!
ADT is a day program for youth between the ages of 13 and 19 years old. ADT helps youth with anxiety, mood difficulties, problems with friends or family, or behaviour issues.
What is a day at ADT like? You arrive at 8:30 a.m. and have time to connect with staff and other youth before attending school. There are breaks to relax and practice new skills. Teachers help you stay on track with assignments from your home school. If you haven’t been in school for a while, staff will help you to reconnect.
In the afternoon, you work with our treatment team. You participate in individual treatment or groups like social skills or anxiety management. Even your parents participate! They learn how to help you and to better understand what is going on. Recreation therapy activities are also part of the day.
You usually come to day treatment for about three months. It may be difficult at first – new experiences always are – but our staff will do their best to help you on your journey. There is a place for you at Adolescent Day Treatment.
