How we Help

The Plastic Surgery Care Team provides care to infants, children, and adolescents with congenital (existing from birth) and acquired abnormalities. Some of the more common conditions seen include: individuals with cleft lip and palate, craniofacial (deformities involving and/or related to the head and face) abnormalities, hand and upper extremity abnormalities, victims of burns and other trauma, and patients with bony or soft tissue defects or tumours.

Craniofacial (deformities involving and/or related to the head and face) surgery and microvascular surgery are also provided.

Minor procedures are performed under local anesthesia in the outpatient setting, and more complex procedures are performed under general anesthesia in the operating room. Burn care is provided on an inpatient basis as well as through the outpatient burn treatment program. A Pre-Admission Support Program is in place to provide pre-operative teaching and support to children and families who will be admitted following their surgery.
