We are a clinical service that provides a wide range of laboratory services focusing on supporting the diagnosis and monitoring of children and women of Nova Scotia, the Maritimes and Atlantic Canada.
Section: Procedures and responsibilities
Core Laboratory: rapid response and high volume chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank product issuing
Immunohematology: blood microscopy, special hematology, blood bank testing
Microbiology: bacteriology, serology, parasitology, mycology
Shared Instrumentation: automated testing across laboratory disciplines, biochemical genetics
Molecular Biology: DNA, RNA and related testing for Mendelian inherited disorders
Cytogenetics: chromosomal analysis
Anatomic Pathology: histopathology, immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, of surgical and post-mortem specimens
