Dr. J. C. Hyndman

Dr. Joe Hyndman is a Professor of Surgery at Dalhousie University. He graduated from Dalhousie University Medical School in 1969 and obtained his F.R.C.S. (C) in 1973. He completed his Orthopaedic Residency Training at the Vancouver General Hospital in 1974, and was the recipient of the Detweiller Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He then completed a one year Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship at the Alfred I. DuPont Institute in Wilmington, Delaware.

 

Dr. Hyndman received certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1976, and was recertified in 1996. He is a charter member of the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and has been invited as a Visiting Professor to every Canadian Province but one.

 

Dr. Hyndman joined the IWK Children’s Hospital in 1974, and in 1988 he was appointed Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at the IWK Health Centre, a position he held until April 2011. In April of 2011 Dr. Hyndman was appointed Interim VP of Medicine at the IWK Health Centre, and he maintains a clinical practice on a part-time basis in the Orthopaedic Clinic.
