Other Amenities and Helpful Information

Parking
Parking is available in the IWK Parkade located on University Avenue. Parking is available at hourly rates. Please ask a member of Protection Services, (902) 470-7070 or (902) 470-8286 about special weekly rates.

The parking garages use an automated parking system. When you enter the garage you will receive an Entry Ticket.  PLEASE TAKE THIS TICKET WITH YOU WHEN ENTERING THE IWK. You are required to pay your parking fee at an automated pay station located in the IWK Gallery (which looks like a banking machine) before returning to your car to leave the garage. Once your Entry Ticket is validated by the pay station as paid, you simply place the paid ticket on the ticket reader at the exit and the gate will raise automatically. Once you pay for parking, you have 20 minutes to exit the parking lot.

Banking
There are two banking machines at the IWK.

A full-service personal touchbanking machine is located on the main floor of the Health Centre near the Cafeteria. This Royal Bank machine will accept Plus and Interac cards. Most of your day-to-day banking can be done here.

There is also a bank machine located in the IWK Gallery – close to Tim Hortons and Subway.

Information Desks
The Health Centre has three information desks on the main floor near the University Avenue entrances. One is located in the main lobby of the Women's Site, another is in the Children's Site lobby, and the third is located towards the middle of the IWK Gallery within the Goldbloom Pavilion. There is also an information station on the first floor of the Children's Site, South Street entrance.

Family Tea
Families of patients staying at the IWK have enjoyed this special, complimentary treat for more than 20 years. Organized and hosted by dedicated Health Centre volunteers, through Volunteer Resources, the Family Tea is held every Tuesday (except during the Holiday break and the summer months) in the Cafeteria (Main Floor) from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. All are welcome -- it's a wonderful opportunity to take a break and enjoy a little snack and friendly conversation with our volunteers and other family members.
