Infection Prevention and Control Services is a resource to IWK staff, patients and their families, volunteers and visitors, in the effort to minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infection.
Infection Prevention and Control Services supports the IWK’s mission of teaching and research, leadership and caring. We develop strategies to help reduce the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections; and, by striving to be a leader in health care epidemiology (study of disease) and infection control. In all that we do, we demonstrate a commitment to caring, respect, patient safety, effective utilization of resources and continuous improvement.We believe that the cornerstone of infection prevention of control continues to be good handwashing!
