About our Service

The role of Pharmacy is to provide comprehensive, pharmaceutical services to meet the drug-related needs of our patients. We work with other members of the healthcare team to provide safe, cost-effective drug therapy.

IWK Pharmacy Services include:

  • Distribution and monitoring of medications via a variety of systems; 

  • Preparation of pediatric dosage forms, not available from the manufacturer;

  • Reporting of adverse drug events;

  • Parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy, and intravenous medication preparation and monitoring;

  • Drug information services;

  • Review of medication usage;

  • Drug Formulary management;

  • Participation in Continuous Quality Improvement programs to ensure patient safety;

  • Pharmacy student and technician education;

  • Research; and,

  • Educating other healthcare professionals on drug therapy.
